maxit Group signes joint venture in China

On 15th of January 2004 a joint venture agreement between BBMG Group Co. (Beijing Building Materials Group) and Optiroc Oy (maxit Group) has been signed.

The Chairman of BBMG, Mr. Wang Dong signed on behalf of the Chinese partner, and maxit Group’s President Mr. Cornelis Altena signed for our part.

BBMG is Beijing’s largest construction and building materials company with a turnover of 6 billion RMB, nearly 100 subsidiaries including one cement plant and with multiple building products. However, this is BBMG’s first entrance into premix products.

Beijing has a population of 13,6 million inhabitants and an extensive construction activity of new buildings and infrastructure. With this kind of market, both Mr Wang Dong and Mr Cornelis Altena expressed optimism and great hopes for the new venture.

Optiroc’s Beijing operations are headed by Mr Markku Hyvarinen. The new premix plant will be built at the same location as Beijing’s cement plant owned by BBMG.
